課程目標

This course is the topical studies in the nature of the firm, industrial structure, the effects of structure on firm, and industry behavior and performance. The goal is to introduce students to a sampling of the topics within this literature and to prepare students for doing theoretical and empirical work in the field. It combines theory with investigations of individual industries. The issues apply to a wide range of disciplines other than economics, most immediately to antitrust/law and economics, and business strategy. The course will be a mixture of textbooks, lecture notes and discussion of specific papers.
